So what exactly is a Freelance Copywriter?

A Freelance copywriter is somebody that has mastered the art of persuasive sales copy. They will write your marketing materials for you on a Freelance basis.  They’re not your employee but instead work on a per project basis.

Freelance copywriting is a very specialized skill and therefore isn’t cheap.  You’ll generally pay several thousand dollars for a long  copy sales letter.  While you can sometimes find good up and coming copywriters for below $1,000 …  it’s   rare.  Once they start having good results for their clients the demand for their services will increase and so will their price.

Beware of Low Cost Copywriters

I’ve seen people claiming to be “copywriters” offering sales letter for as little as $97. The problem with that is that the numbers don’t add up …

It takes most copywriters about two weeks to write a long copy sales letters from scratch. This includes reviewing the product, researching the market, writing the copy and doing final edits. A top Copywriter can usually do about 2 sales letters a month.

If somebody is doing sales letters for $97, or  even $197 they would need to do several sales letters a DAY just to survive.  It’s just not really possible to get a quality sales letter for a few hundred bucks. I would say that as a general rule you should expect to pay a MINIMUM of $1000 for a quality sales letter written from scratch. That’s the bare minimum for a quality up and coming freelance copywriter.
